Shin Musashigaoka is one of two Prince Hotels courses near Hanno in western Saitama. It is a hilly eighteen holes, par 71, measuring 6,259 yards from the back tees on the bentgrass greens. The club says the layout follows a concept by the professional Ayako Okamoto, built around the idea that every player should be able to enjoy it. The ground rises and falls gently on each hole, and creeks and ponds sit at the points that decide the hole.

The format is unusual for Japan. The round is played one way, straight through all eighteen holes without the customary lunch break between nines, and the club describes this as the only such course in Saitama. Play is entirely self-service — there are no caddies — and the riding carts carry GPS navigation. If you want food during the round, there is a small restaurant at the 10th hole serving noodles and curry.

There is no driving range, only a putting green and a swing area, so plan to arrive loose. After the round there is a semi-open-air bath, and the main restaurant on the second floor looks over the finishing hole. In June 2025 the club added a forward tee on every hole for players who want a shorter course.

We telephoned the club in October 2026 and confirmed that it accepts overseas visitors and bookings made on their behalf. Rental clubs are ¥4,950, with a few men's sets in each flex, left-handed men's clubs available, and two women's sets (right-handed only).

Rates change by day and by plan. The figure on this page is one example we checked in October 2026, not a quote.

Getting there

The course is in Umehara, Hidaka, in the low hills of western Saitama. A free shuttle bus runs from the south-exit rotary of Hanno station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and takes about fifteen minutes; a taxi from Hanno takes about seven minutes and costs around ¥1,200. By car it is 6.3 km, about twelve minutes, from Sayama-Hidaka IC on the Ken-O Expressway. From central Tokyo the trip is roughly an hour and a half.

Nearest station: Hanno (Seibu Ikebukuro Line) — free shuttle about 15 min, taxi about 7 min. We include precise written directions (English and Japanese) with every confirmed booking. If you prefer a private car, we can introduce a partner hire-car provider; please confirm golf-bag space and book transport directly with the provider.

Visitor FAQ

Can overseas visitors play Shin Musashigaoka?+

Yes. We telephoned the club in October 2026 and confirmed that it accepts overseas visitors and bookings made on their behalf. Bookings are taken in Japanese, which is the part we handle. We check your date with the club as part of the booking; if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

What does 'one-way through play' mean?+

Most Japanese courses play nine holes, stop for lunch, then play the second nine. Here the round goes straight through all eighteen holes in one direction. A small restaurant at the 10th hole sells light meals if you want something on the way.

Can I play on my own?+

Sometimes. For a Friday in November 2026 the online system listed a single-player plan at ¥14,335 (no lunch), which other players had already joined. These slots fill and change, so tell us you are travelling alone and we will look at your date.

Can I rent clubs?+

Yes, at ¥4,950 per set (October 2026). The club told us it holds two men's sets each in S and R flex, one in SR, left-handed men's clubs, and two women's sets with no left-handed option. Tell us your hand and flex when you book.

Is there a range or a bath?+

There is no driving range — only a putting green and a swing area. There is a semi-open-air bath in the clubhouse, and a restaurant overlooking the 18th.
