Golf in Tokyo: 14 Courses Near Tokyo That Accept Visitors (2026)

Staying in Tokyo and want a round of golf? Here are the 14 courses near the city we book for overseas visitors — what they cost, how to reach them by train, and which one fits your trip.

Updated October 2026

The short answer

Tokyo itself has almost no full-size golf courses, so visitors day-trip to Chiba, Saitama, western Tokyo or Kanagawa — usually 50–90 minutes away. Weekday green fees at the 14 courses below start from about ¥9,000 and reach about ¥29,000 with a caddie. Most can be reached by train plus a club shuttle bus. Golf Caddie Japan books them in English for ¥6,000 per player per round (¥8,000 per round for a solo booking).

Central Tokyo has some of the world’s best food, museums and bars — and almost no golf courses. Land prices pushed the courses out of the city decades ago.

That doesn’t make Tokyo a bad base for golf. Within about an hour of the city lie hundreds of courses in Chiba, Saitama, western Tokyo and Kanagawa. Below are the 14 we book for overseas visitors, with the details that matter when you don’t speak Japanese and don’t have a car.

Status updates (October 2026). After this autumn’s typhoon, part of some courses is temporarily closed: the Uchibo course at Chiba Shin-Nihon, the Kuranami nine at Tokyowan, and shuttle service at Tokyowan is partly running. A road near Manna was also reported closed in early October. We check the current status when we quote your date.

Not on the list? Tell us the course you have in mind. We check whether it accepts visitors on your date as part of the booking — if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

Which course fits your trip?

  • Tournament pedigree: Narashino (the PGA Tour’s ZOZO Championship), Taiei (Hitachi 3Tours Championship) and Camellia Hills (JLPGA).
  • Travelling on your own: Narashino, Tokyo Sobu and Tokyowan, where we have placed single players. Read our solo golf guide first.
  • Easiest by train: Tokyo Sobu (inside Tokyo, two stations with club buses), Tokyowan (five minutes from Nagaura Station), Iruma, Tokyo Birdie Club and Kamakura.
  • Best value: Tokyowan from about ¥9,000, Shibayama from about ¥11,400 and Manna from about ¥12,000 on weekdays.
  • A premium day with a caddie: Chiba Birdie Club, Tokyo Birdie Club and Camellia Hills, where a caddie is part of every round.
  • On your way to or from Narita Airport: Taiei (shuttle from Terminal 2), Shibayama and Golf Club Narita Hightree.
  • Close to Haneda Airport: Camellia Hills, across Tokyo Bay via the Aqua-Line.

Getting there without a car

  • Use the club bus. Most courses run a free or low-cost shuttle from a nearby station, timed for morning tee times. Some need a reservation; we tell you which and when.
  • Taxi for the last leg where there is no bus — for example, about 35 minutes from Kisarazu Station to PGM Maria.
  • Travel light. Rent clubs at the course, or ship your own bag ahead by takkyubin courier for about ¥2,500 each way. Carrying a golf bag through Shinjuku Station at rush hour is not fun.
  • Groups of four or more may prefer a private car with a driver for the whole day. We can introduce a licensed partner who quotes you directly.
  • Use your phone on the day. Once your booking is confirmed, we send the nearest station, the club bus details and a map link, and you check the live train times in Google Maps on the morning of your round.

Evenings in Tokyo: driving ranges and simulators

Even without a round, a Tokyo driving range is worth a visit: two or three floors of bays lit up at night, automatic tee-up machines and rental clubs at the front desk. Expect roughly ¥1,500–¥4,000 a session. Indoor simulator bars are another option for jet-lagged evenings. See our guide to driving ranges and simulators in Tokyo.

A sample Tokyo golf week

  • Day 1: Land at Haneda and settle in, or play an arrival-day round at Camellia Hills.
  • Days 2–3: Tokyo sightseeing, with one evening at a driving range.
  • Day 4: A full golf day at Narashino, Tokyo Sobu or Iruma.
  • Day 5: City day; simulator bay with friends in the evening.
  • Weekend: Leave the courses to local members — fees rise and some clubs close to visitors.

How booking works

Most courses near Tokyo take reservations only in Japanese. Send us your dates and where you’re staying, and we reply in English within 24 hours with course options and a written quote. Our fee is ¥6,000 (about US$40) per player per round, tax included (¥8,000 per round for a solo booking); green fees are paid at the course on the day. Once the fee is paid, we contact the course, confirm the final price with you and book. If we can’t secure it, the fee is refunded in full. See how to book golf in Japan for the details.
